Songwriter and guitarist Nelene DeGuzman and bassist Kevin Conklin met drummer Nicky David Cobham-Morgese in Tucson, Arizona where Female Gaze is based. The three found power in the simplicity of the trio and quickly gained a reputation for their electrifying live performance.
Their 2024 release, Tender Futures, was an experimental concept album meant to be experienced on a loop, starting from any song but then listening until reaching your starting point. Female Gaze returns with their sophomore album, linea nigra.
linea nigra, a dizzying and immersive journey of an album, was made while frontwoman Nelene DeGuzman was heavily pregnant. DeGuzman describes the upcoming record as “a hormonal feverdream of sorting through fears of labor and birth while staring down the seemingly impossible task of mothering while the world is on fire.”
linea nigra is out now and available everywhere!
